Furthermore, plastic has played a significant role in reducing food waste and increasing food safety. However, it is true that plastic pollution is a severe environmental issue. Single-use plastics contribute to land, air, and marine pollution and harm ecosystems and wildlife. Nonetheless, blaming plastic entirely as the worst invention overlooks its positive contributions and the responsibility lies more with the improper disposal and excessive use of plastics rather than the material itself.
