Jesse shook his head as he stepped out of the car on the side of the road. The hot desert sun beat down on his head as he lifted the spare tire out of the trunk. Jesse slammed the trunk down when he saw that the spare was flat. Then he took out his cell phone and discovered the battery was dead. With growing concern, Jesse wondered what to do next. He had not seen any other cars come by in the past hour. At least he had a full bottle of water and was less than a mile from town.
