2. Set up the gameboard: Unfold the gameboard on a flat surface and place it in the center of the play area. Make sure all teams have access to the gameboard.
3. Review the four different card categories: Cranium includes four different types of activities, each represented by a different color: Creative Cat (blue), Data Head (pink), Star Performer (yellow), and Word Worm (green). Review the different categories with all players before beginning the game.
4. Determine the starting team: There are various ways to determine which team goes first. You can flip a coin, draw straws, or use any method you agree upon. The starting team will begin on the "Planet Cranium" space.
5. Roll the dice: The starting team rolls the dice and moves the corresponding number of spaces along the gameboard, following the path indicated by the arrows. The team must advance to a circle space of their choice.
6. Perform the activity: Once a team lands on a circle space, they must perform the activity associated with the color of the space. The activity may require drawing, sculpting, acting, trivia knowledge, word play, or other challenges. Follow the instructions on the card and complete the activity as a team.
7. Time limit and audience role: Each team has a limited amount of time to complete their activity. The opposing teams act as the audience and have the opportunity to guess the answer. If the opposing team guesses correctly, they steal the space, and the active team returns to their starting point.
8. Advance on the gameboard: If the active team successfully completes their activity within the time limit and their opponents fail to guess correctly, the team can advance to the next space of any color category, as long as it's not the same color as the space they just completed.
9. Play continues: Play continues in a clockwise direction, with each team taking turns and moving along the gameboard. Remember, each team must complete activities from all four categories before reaching the "Cranium Central" space.
10. Reach "Cranium Central" and win: The first team to reach the center of the gameboard, the "Cranium Central" space, wins the game. To win, the team must correctly complete one final activity from any of the four categories.
