Theorem 12-2

Converse of Tangents

If two tangents to a circle are drawn from a point outside the circle, then the line joining the points of tangency is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact.

The converse of the tangent theorem, Theorem 12-2, states that if a line is drawn from a point outside a circle to intersect the circle in exactly one point, then the line is tangent to the circle.
