Describe the three types of predation and give an example of each.

1. Carnivory: This refers to predators that mainly eat other animals, or meat. For example, a lion that preys on a gazelle in the savannah is an example of carnivory.

2. Herbivory: This type of predation involves animals that feed mainly on plants or other vegetative matter. For instance, a caterpillar that eats leaves of a plant is an example of herbivory.

3. Parasitism: This refers to a type of predation where the predator lives inside or on a host organism and usually feeds on its tissues, blood or other fluids. For example, the tapeworm that lives in the intestine of humans and feed on nutrients from the host's digestion is an example of parasitism.

There are three types of predation: ambush predation, pursuit predation, and grazing predation. Here is an example of each type:

1. Ambush Predation: In ambush predation, the predator remains hidden and attacks its prey by surprise. An example of this would be a snake that lies in wait for a mouse to pass by and then quickly strikes to capture it.

2. Pursuit Predation: In pursuit predation, the predator actively chases and captures its prey. A common example of this is a cheetah running after a gazelle. The cheetah uses its speed to catch up to the gazelle and then captures it.

3. Grazing Predation: Grazing predation refers to predators that consume a small amount of prey without killing it. An example of this is when a mosquito feeds on the blood of a human. The mosquito draws a small amount of blood but doesn't cause significant harm to the person.
