Socratic method

The Socratic method is a teaching method used to stimulate critical thinking and encourage students to question their assumptions. It is named after the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, who used this method to question and challenge the beliefs of his students.

The Socratic method involves asking a series of questions to help students clarify their thoughts and ideas, identify inconsistencies in their thinking, and develop logical and well-reasoned arguments.

Through the Socratic method, students are encouraged to think deeply about a topic, examine multiple perspectives, and arrive at their own conclusions through a process of critical reasoning. This can be a powerful tool for cultivating intellectual curiosity, empathy, and the ability to engage in meaningful dialogue with others.

The Socratic method can also be used in a therapeutic setting to help individuals explore their beliefs and behaviors, and to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and others.
