Why did constellations make such good calendars?

Constellations made such good calendars because they were visible in the night sky every year at the same time and their patterns were easily recognizable. For example, the constellation Orion appears in the winter sky, and its appearance was closely associated with the winter solstice. Early civilizations could use the position of stars and constellations to track the seasons and the passing of time, making it easier to plan agricultural activities, religious ceremonies, and astronomical observations.
