If water is such an important resource, why is it exploited

Water is exploited because it is essential for life and for various human activities, such as irrigation, industry, transportation, and energy production. Additionally, there is a growing demand for water due to population growth, economic development, urbanization, and climate change. This has led to increased exploitation of water resources, often at unsustainable rates, causing depletion of groundwater and surface water, degradation of water quality, and risks to ecosystems and human health. Furthermore, water is often a scarce resource, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions, where competition for water resources can lead to conflicts among different users and sectors. Hence, the exploitation of water needs to be managed carefully and sustainably to ensure that it meets the needs of present and future generations.
