Arithmetic mean

The arithmetic mean, also known as the average, is a measure of central tendency in statistics. It is derived by summing up all the values in a data set and dividing the sum by the total number of values. The formula for the arithmetic mean is:

Arithmetic Mean = (Sum of Values) / (Total Number of Values)

For example, if the data set is {2, 4, 6, 8, 10}, then the arithmetic mean is:

Arithmetic Mean = (2 + 4 + 6 + 8 + 10) / 5 = 6

So, the arithmetic mean of the data set is 6. This means that on average, the values in the data set are closest to 6.
