Annie Mae Young didn't march with Martin Luther King because

she was already active in the civil rights movement and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) before King became a prominent leader. Young was deeply involved in grassroots organizing and was a founding member of SNCC, which focused on voter registration and community organizing in rural areas of the Deep South. While she did not march with King, Young was involved in numerous protests and demonstrations throughout her career, including the historic March on Washington in 1963.
