Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. was a pharmaceutical company based in India, and it was founded in 1961. The company was acquired by Japanese pharmaceutical company, Daiichi Sankyo in 2008. Ranbaxy was one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in India and had a presence in over 150 countries worldwide. It produced a wide range of generic pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics, cardiovascular drugs, and antiretroviral drugs.

Ranbaxy was also known for its research and development efforts in the fields of drug delivery systems and controlled-release formulations. The company's products were manufactured in facilities located in India, the United States, Ireland, and Malaysia. Ranbaxy was subjected to numerous fines and penalties due to an array of regulatory violations, including quality control issues, falsifying data, and manufacturing practices. After these violations, Daiichi Sankyo sold Ranbaxy to Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, which dissolved Ranbaxy and integrated their operations into Sun Pharma.
