Identify two industrial uses of distillation

and what components of mixtures are
separated in each use.

1. Petroleum Refining - Distillation is used to separate crude oil into its different components such as gasoline, diesel fuel, and lubricating oil. This separation is based on the differences in boiling points of each component.

2. Chemical Manufacturing - Distillation is used in chemical manufacturing to purify and separate different chemicals from a mixture. For example, ethanol can be separated from fermentation mixtures using distillation. Other chemical compounds can also be separated using distillation based on their different boiling points.
