Louisbourg is a historic town located in Nova Scotia, Canada. The town was founded in 1713, and it quickly became an important commercial and military center during the 18th century. In 1745, Louisbourg was attacked by British forces during the War of Austrian Succession, and it was subsequently captured. The town was later returned to France under the terms of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1748, but it was once again captured by the British during the Seven Years' War in 1758. Louisbourg was left in ruins after the war, but the site has since been preserved as a historic national park. Visitors can tour the restored buildings and view exhibits that cover the town's history.
