The UN plan for the Palestine Mandate, also known as the UN Partition Plan, was a proposal put forth by the United Nations in 1947 to divide Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. The plan called for Jerusalem to be designated as an international city. The proposal was accepted by Jewish leaders, but rejected by Arab leaders, leading to the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
