If Anakin had killed Sidious, it would have prevented the events of the original trilogy from happening. The Empire would not have been formed, and the Rebel Alliance would not have needed to fight against it. The Jedi Order may have been reinstated, and the galaxy could have been at peace. However, it is also possible that Anakin would have faced consequences for killing a sitting Chancellor, which could have led to him being exiled or imprisoned.
