Tutankhamun's mask is a famous artifact from ancient Egypt that was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings. The mask is made of solid gold and weighs around 10 kilos. It is 54 cm high, 39.3 cm wide and 49 cm deep. The mask is a portrait of the young pharaoh Tutankhamun who ruled from around 1332 to 1323 BCE. The mask is adorned with precious stones including lapis lazuli, obsidian, and quartz which are used for the eyes, eyebrows, and collar respectively. The headdress of the mask is decorated with a cobra and a vulture that represent the protectors of the pharaoh. The mask has an unmistakable smile that is considered a symbol of eternal happiness. Because of its beauty and importance, the mask is now one of the most famous artifacts of ancient Egypt and is displayed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
