How to find the surface area of a 3D shape

Cube:
If the 3D shape is a cube
All faces are the same size
and there are 6 faces in a cube
So, Lets do the equation
a: area
l: length
w: width

In a square, all sides are the same length
So l and w are the same

l*w = a (equation for one face)
Then we multiply a by 6 (the faces on a cube)
a*6 = surface area

Rectangle 3D:
It is the same thing as a cube, just the sides arent the same length or width

Triangular Prism:

Some of the faces will be rectangular or a square
But most are going to be triangles

The area of a triangle can be calucated by this
1/2bh = a
Use this formula to find the area of the triangular faces.

Then add all the faces areas.
