Why did the Puritans come to North America?

The Puritans came to North America in order to escape religious persecution and create a new society based on their religious beliefs. They wanted to establish a place where they could practice their religion freely and organize themselves according to their own principles. Additionally, they believed that the Church of England was corrupt and that it needed to be purified from within. Therefore, they sought to create a new community based on the pure principles of the Christian faith.
