Why is the sky blue

The sky appears blue because of a scientific phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. As sunlight travels through Earth's atmosphere, the gases and particles in the air scatter the sunlight in all directions. This scattering causes the shorter blue wavelengths to scatter more than the other colors, making the blue light visible to our eyes. This is also why the sky can appear more orange, pink, or red during sunrise or sunset when the sunlight is passing through more atmosphere and scattering different wavelengths of light.
