If I were an immigrant moving to New York City in the late 1800s, I would be coming from Ireland. I would have left my country in search of better economic opportunities, as Ireland was experiencing great poverty and unemployment due to the Great Famine. Upon arriving in New York City, I would most likely live in one of the tenements on the Lower East Side with my family. I would work as a seamstress in one of the garment factories, which were well-known for their terrible working conditions.I would face many challenges, such as learning English, adapting to a new environment and culture, and experiencing discrimination from those who were born in America. Despite all these difficulties, I would be determined to make a better life for myself and my family, and would work hard to achieve that goal.
