The problem statement of this research topic is to investigate the various factors that influence the performance of small businesses in the Morogoro region and their impact on the economy of the region. Morogoro region is one of the most economically active regions in Tanzania, with a high concentration of small businesses operating in various sectors. Despite their significant contribution to the economy, many of these small businesses struggle to operate profitably or sustainably, leading to low productivity and potential bankruptcy. Understanding the different factors that affect the performance of small businesses in the Morogoro region is, therefore, vital in identifying solutions to their challenges and promoting sustained economic growth in the region. The study will also explore the impact of small business performance on the larger economy, including employment levels, poverty reduction, and overall economic growth in the region.
