What is the House of Representatives in the United States?

The House of Representatives is one of the two chambers of the United States Congress, along with the Senate. It is made up of 435 elected members, each representing a congressional district for a two-year term. The House of Representatives is responsible for initiating and passing federal legislation, as well as overseeing the government's spending and taxation policies. The Speaker of the House is its presiding officer and is elected by the members of the House of Representatives.
