The Two Ocean Act of 1940 or the Vinson-Walsh Act was one of the most important acts in the US Naval history. It expanded the size of the US Navy by 70 percent. This was instrumental in the US victory over Japan in World War II.
He was a segregationist. He was one of the signatories of the Southern Manifesto which was drafted in response to the Supreme Court decision in 1954 against segregation in schools.
