Clouds are formed when water vapor in the air rises and cools. As the air rises, it expands and cools, causing the water vapor to condense into tiny droplets of liquid water or ice crystals. These droplets and crystals form clouds. The type of cloud that forms depends on the temperature and amount of moisture in the air.
