Early reformers, such as Martin Luther and John Calvin, were heavily influenced by the teachings of John Huss and the Hussite movement. Huss was a Czech priest and philosopher who was burned at the stake for heresy in 1415. His teachings, which focused on the authority of Scripture and the priesthood of all believers, were adopted by the Hussites and spread throughout Europe. Luther and Calvin both embraced these teachings and used them to form the basis of their own reform movements.
