Even with an awareness of the dangers and the display of those characteristics, what was sure to happen to Jesus' disciples in the first century (Matthew 10:17-18)? How does this historical description relate to believers today?

In the first century, Jesus' disciples were sure to face persecution and even death for their faith. This is because of the hostile environment they were living in, and the fact that they were proclaiming a message that was contrary to the beliefs of the people around them. This historical description relates to believers today in that we too may face persecution and even death for our faith. We must be willing to stand firm in our faith and proclaim the truth of the gospel, even in the face of opposition.
