Georgia’s State Level Government

(Think about the powers and responsibilities of each branch, who are the leaders/ members?)

Georgia's state level government is composed of three branches: the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.

The executive branch is headed by the Governor, who is elected by the people of Georgia. The Governor is responsible for executing the laws of the state, appointing state officials, and serving as commander-in-chief of the state's military forces. Other members of the executive branch include the Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, and the State Treasurer.

The legislative branch is composed of the Georgia General Assembly, which is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The members of the General Assembly are elected by the people of Georgia. The General Assembly is responsible for making laws, levying taxes, and appropriating funds for the state.

The judicial branch is headed by the Supreme Court of Georgia, which is composed of seven justices. The Supreme Court is responsible for interpreting the laws of the state and deciding cases brought before it. Other members of the judicial branch include the Court of Appeals, the Superior Courts, and the State Court.
