British strategy to capture to the Hudson River valley (and therefore all of New York)

The British strategy to capture the Hudson River valley was to divide and conquer. They sent troops to occupy the forts along the river, which allowed them to control the strategic points and prevent the Americans from moving supplies and troops. They also used a naval blockade to prevent the Americans from receiving supplies from the sea. Finally, they used a combination of diplomacy and military force to convince the Iroquois Confederacy to remain neutral in the conflict.
