In the United States, military service is currently voluntary. However, some countries have mandatory military service. This means that all citizens have to serve a term in the military (usually 1–2 years as a young adult).

Do you think the US government should make military service mandatory for all qualified citizens? Why or why not?

Write at least one paragraph explaining your opinion.

I do not think the US government should make military service mandatory for all qualified citizens. I believe that military service should be a choice, and that citizens should be able to decide for themselves whether or not they want to serve. Making military service mandatory could lead to a lack of motivation and commitment from those who are forced to serve, and could also lead to resentment from those who are not interested in serving. Furthermore, it could lead to a lack of diversity in the military, as those who are not interested in serving may be less likely to join. Additionally, it could be difficult to enforce, as it would be difficult to track down those who are not qualified or who do not want to serve. Ultimately, I believe that military service should remain voluntary, as it allows citizens to make their own decisions and encourages commitment and dedication from those who choose to serve.
