15. I believe this is true because most authors have varied upbringings. Additionally, if individuals come from different backgrounds, they may interpret information differently. For example, if they come from a happy family or background, they may find it upsetting to hear something truly depressing. Some authors utilize the terrible incidents to create a nice story, while others use them to create sad stories because they may write sad novels since they had a sad upbringing and so perceive facts and stuff differently. Some writers include joyous occasions. That is how I believe that several authors may view the same data in various ways.

Hope this helps yall

Hello! How can I assist you today?

Answers from ur be..., this is now out of date, most of the questions are still on the test, but some aren't, for example, the mimic octopus one is now asking about what format you would use to display the information, not what the main subject is (which I believe is the question you answered)

But the answers are still accurate :)

Ope, the last one is also now different, it is something about Althea Gibson, I think I can figure it out, though

Use the information from the two sources to answer the question.

Source 1: Requiring school districts to recycle will reduce the emissions of greenhouses gases that damage the environment. School districts have many people in them and dispose of large amounts of waste. Their participation is necessary if recycling is going to have an impact on the environment.

Source 2: Outside recycling programs can be expensive for schools that need to use their district's money for educational programs and resources. While recycling is important for protecting our planet, getting all students to follow a specific program is not easy and can cause programs to be ineffective.

On which fact do the two sources disagree?

Use the paragraph to complete the activity.

Forests cover about 31% of the land on Earth. Sadly, that number is decreasing at a rapid rate. Deforestation, which is human-driven and natural loss of trees, is one of the main causes of this depletion. A natural loss of trees might come from a fire, for example, but deforestation done by humans is more common and involves removing trees to make room for something else. This can include clearing land for farming or using the wood from trees for fuel, construction, or manufacturing. Despite these potential economic benefits, deforestation should be stopped because forests are too important for people, animals, and the environment.

Write 3-5 sentences explaining what the key concept of the paragraph is and how the author develops the key concept.

(4 points)

The author concludes by arguing that deforestation should be stopped because of the importance of forests for life on Earth. Overall, the author develops the key concept of deforestation by providing evidence to support the claim that it is a significant problem that needs to be addressed.

Vote No on the Highway 85 Extension

by Victoria Vail, Tribune staff writer

Next week, the city council will consider a proposal to extend Highway 85 by 10 miles. A small coalition of real estate developers have hurried this proposal forward, hoping to capitalize on state tax breaks and reassuring the city that their intentions are good. In truth, however, the proposed extension would hurt our community. It would be bad for downtown businesses, bad for families, and bad for the environment.

Bad for Downtown Businesses

Developers claim that the land west of town is ripe to be turned into a combined retail/residential area. They say that the extension of Highway 85 would give shoppers access to a greater variety of stores. In truth, though, we already have a great variety of stores downtown—over 200 of them. Many of these businesses have been hurting for several years due to the neglect of the Exit 10 overpass, which has made driving difficult. Extending Highway 85 would give shoppers a reason to avoid downtown altogether—likely dooming many small businesses and leaving buildings vacant. However, the overpass could be repaired at a fraction of the cost of the highway extension. This small investment in city infrastructure would be good for businesses and shoppers alike.

In 1-2 sentences, identify the author's point of view and the author's purpose.
(2 points)

The author's point of view is against the proposed extension of Highway 85, and the author's purpose is to persuade readers to vote against the proposal by presenting arguments against it.

Write 3-5 sentences explaining how the writer of a persuasive text addresses conflicting viewpoints and evidence. (4 points)

The writer of a persuasive text typically addresses conflicting viewpoints and evidence by acknowledging opposing arguments and presenting counterarguments that effectively refute those viewpoints. A persuasive text may use evidence to support its own position while challenging the evidence presented by opposing viewpoints. The writer may also anticipate and respond to potential objections or concerns that readers may have about the position presented in the text. The writer may use rhetorical devices, such as emotional appeals or appeal to authority, to persuade readers of the validity of the position. In doing so, the writer seeks to convince readers to adopt the position presented in the text.

Use the claims about banning plastic bags to complete the activity.

Claim 1

What do you think about when you toss a plastic bag into the garbage? If you’re like most people, then you probably do not think about much at all. We don’t think about the fact that plastic bags take centuries to decay. We do not think about how many bags end up in lakes, rivers, and oceans, harming wildlife and even causing death. However, we should think about all this. Better yet, we should do something about it: ban the use of plastic bags. If this happens, then we will all feel better knowing that we are not contributing to pollution and harming wildlife. And besides, plastic bags are not a necessity. Paper bags are an alternative, and so are reusable cloth bags.

Claim 2

It seems like we are drowning in plastic bags, but before you decide to ban them, you should remember some of the reasons companies started using plastic back in the 1970s. Before there was plastic, there was paper and cardboard, which are made from trees. So, switching from paper to plastic saved some trees. Plastic also saved people money because it kept food fresher for longer. Also, it is lighter than cardboard or glass, so it was cheaper to ship things wrapped in plastic. Plus, plastic is safer than glass, which tends to break. So, yes, we should be using less plastic, but it does not make sense to ban it until we find a better solution.

Which paragraph provides more sound arguments? Why or why not? Write 3-5 sentences supporting your answer.(4 points)

Claim 1 provides more sound arguments because it presents evidence of the harm caused by plastic bags to the environment and wildlife, and proposes a practical solution to mitigate that harm. The author points out that plastic bags take centuries to decay and harm wildlife, while also noting that paper bags and reusable cloth bags are viable alternatives. The author's argument is further supported by the fact that plastic bags are not a necessity. In contrast, Claim 2 presents some benefits of plastic bags, but does not address the environmental harm caused by them nor offer any real solutions beyond a vague call to "use less plastic." As such, Claim 1 presents more compelling and sound arguments for why plastic bags should be banned.
