Zoo animals get exercise in a variety of ways. Depending on the species, they may be provided with enrichment activities such as puzzles, foraging opportunities, and play structures. They may also be taken out of their enclosures for walks or runs, or be given access to larger enclosures to explore. Additionally, some zoos have special exercise areas for their animals, such as swimming pools, obstacle courses, and climbing structures.
