Volcanoes are located throughout New Zealand, with the majority located in the North Island. The most active volcanoes are located in the Taupo Volcanic Zone, which includes the Tongariro National Park, the Bay of Plenty, and the East Cape. Other volcanoes are located in the Auckland Volcanic Field, the Coromandel Peninsula, and the South Island.
