How would the universe be different without supernovae?

Without supernovae, the universe would be drastically different. Supernovae are responsible for creating many of the elements that make up the universe, such as carbon, oxygen, and iron. Without these elements, life as we know it would not exist. Supernovae also play a role in the formation of galaxies, as they help to spread out the gas and dust that form stars and planets. Without supernovae, galaxies would not form and the universe would be much less diverse.
