How do I solve a systems of equations when the equations have only one answer?
As in:
{x*y=0}
{x*y=1}
your system of equations has no solution
if xy=0 and xy=1, then 0 = 1, which is nonsense.
go to a nice graphing website like
desmos dot com / calculator,
(fool jiskha by deleting the spaces and of course take care of the dot.)
and enter xy = 4, you will get a rotated hyperbola
now change the 3 to smaller and smaller numbers to see what happens
at xy = 0 , the hyperbola has collapsed totally and all you have is the x and the y axes.
