According to an internet search, Henry McNeal Turner was ground-breaking church organizer and messenger for the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) in Georgia. He later grew to the position of bishop, and was also a functioning politician and Reconstruction-Era state legislator for the city of Macon in Georgia.
