MnO4–(aq) + Cl–(aq) MnO2(s) + Cl2(g) (unbalanced)

i. Balance the given half-reactions for atoms and charge. (0.5 points)
MnO4– + H2O MnO2 + OH–
Cl– Cl2

ii. Multiply to balance the charges in the reaction. (0.5 points)

iii. Add the equations and simplify to get a balanced equation. (0.5 points)

You add the (aq) and (l) as needed.

[MnO4]^- + 3e + 2H2O ===> MnO2 + 4OH^-
2Cl^- ==> Cl2 + 2e

2. Multiply equation 1 by 2 and equation 2 by 3
3. Add the equations
4. Cancel anything common to both sides of the equation.
I assume you can do steps 2,3,4.
Post your work if you get stuck.
