1. Compare the three maps of Nigeria below, then answer the following questions. Please be sure to do the following:
-Use the maps attached to the question.
-Keep in mind that low elevation areas are near the coast. Higher elevation areas are inland.
-To answer question c, it will probably be necessary to take a look at both the political and biome map. When looking at the political map, take note of which sections of Nigeria seem to have the most roads and cities.

a. What type of biomes are found in the lowland areas? Note that there are three biomes you should be naming for this answer.
b. What type of biomes are found in the higher elevations? Note that you should be naming at least two biomes for this answer.
c. What biomes have the highest population density?
d. What biome exists in Plateau State (which is named after the Jos Plateau)?
To answer these questions, follow these steps:
1. First, examine the Nigeria- Shaded Relief map. This map will give you an idea of the elevations in different areas of Nigeria. Remember that low elevation areas are near the coast, while higher elevation areas are inland.
2. Next, study the Nigeria- Biomes map. This map will provide information about the different biomes found in Nigeria. Look for the key or legend that explains the different colors used to represent each biome.
3. Similarly, analyze the Nigeria- Political map. This map will show you the boundaries, cities, and roads in Nigeria. Pay attention to the areas with the most roads and cities.
Now we can proceed to answer the questions:
a. Based on the Nigeria- Biomes map, identify the lowland areas and determine which biomes are found there. Use the legend/key to identify the different biomes represented by different colors. There should be three biomes in the lowland areas.
b. Again using the Nigeria- Biomes map, locate the higher elevations and identify at least two biomes found in those areas.
c. To determine the biomes with the highest population density, compare the Nigeria- Biomes map with the Nigeria- Political map. Pay attention to the areas with more cities and roads. Cross-reference this information with the legend/key to identify the biomes with the highest population density.
d. To identify the biome that exists in Plateau State, refer to both the Nigeria- Biomes and the Nigeria- Political maps. Locate Plateau State on the Nigeria- Political map, and using the Nigeria- Biomes map, identify the biome that corresponds to that area.
