Okay. sooo...i know that if you add flour to a substance it thickens up.But what can you add to a substance to thin it out (other than water...)

i guess it depends on what the 'substance' is, and then according to that you can see what would be the appropriate liquid to add

that's what i think :)

Okay what if the substance is cookie dough...then what could i add?

I used water and eggs. The dough did not turn out to be a good consistency so I'm debating over whether or not I should add more water or add milk or something...i have NO clue.

i think cookie dough uses egg, which would probably be the best thing to add. i'm not so sure about water

milk could also do

To thin out a substance, there are several options you can consider apart from water. Here are a few common ingredients you can use:

1. Broth or Stock: Adding broth or stock, such as vegetable or chicken, can help thin out a mixture while also adding flavor.

2. Vinegar or Citrus Juice: Adding a small amount of vinegar, lemon juice, lime juice, or any other citrus juice can help to thin and brighten the flavor of a dish. This works well for sauces, dressings, and marinades.

3. Milk or Cream: If you're cooking a creamy sauce or soup, adding milk or cream can help to thin it out while adding richness and creaminess.

4. Oil: Adding a little bit of oil, such as olive oil or any other neutral oil, can help to thin out a thick sauce or dressing.

5. Yogurt or Sour Cream: Incorporating a small amount of yogurt or sour cream can not only thin out a substance but also add a tangy flavor and creamy texture.

6. Coconut Milk: If you're looking to thin out a curry or a sauce while adding a unique flavor, coconut milk is a good option.

Remember, when adding any of these ingredients to a substance, it's important to make adjustments gradually and according to your taste preferences. Start with a small amount, mix it well, and then add more if necessary.

Please note that the choice of ingredient to use for thinning a substance may vary depending on the specific recipe and desired flavor profile.
