x: -2 -1 0 1 2
y:
Use the function rule to complete the table.
−10x+y=4
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The question is above and I am very confused? Could someone explain how this works and how I get the answers?

for the first one:

rewrite it as y = 10x + 4 , (since you need the y values, express the
equation in terms of y)
now just sub in the given x values
e.g.
if x = -2 , y = 10(-2) + 4 = -20+4 = -16
if x = -1, y = 10(-1) + 4 = -10+4 = -6
..
if x = 2 , y = 10(2) + 4 = 20+4 = 24

for the second, did you notice that over every increase of 1 in the x
the y decreases by 5
so it must be y = -5x + b
now just use one of the points , e.g. (2, -11)
-11 = -5(2) + b
-11 = -10 + b
- 1 = b

your function is y = -5x - 1

Find the function rule.
x: -2 -1 0 1 2
y: 9 4 -1 -6 -11
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the seconds question and as I said before I am confused and need some help on how to find the answers.

solving for y ... y = 4 + 10 x

... plug in the x values to find the corresponding y values

as x increases by one , y decreases by five ... y = -5 x + c
... c is the constant term for the x's and y's to "match up" correctly
... 9 = (-5 * -2) + c ... 9 = 10 + c ... -1 = c
... the function rule is ... y = -5 x - 1

Wait I'm confused l only have 1 question?!?

To complete the table, we need to substitute each value of x into the given equation and solve for y.

Let's start with x = -2:

-10x + y = 4

Substituting x = -2:

-10(-2) + y = 4

20 + y = 4

Next, isolate y by subtracting 20 from both sides of the equation:

y = 4 - 20

y = -16

So, when x = -2, y = -16.

Now let's move on to x = -1:

-10x + y = 4

Substituting x = -1:

-10(-1) + y = 4

10 + y = 4

Isolate y by subtracting 10 from both sides:

y = 4 - 10

y = -6

So, when x = -1, y = -6.

Next, for x = 0:

-10x + y = 4

Substituting x = 0:

-10(0) + y = 4

y = 4

So, when x = 0, y = 4.

Moving on to x = 1:

-10x + y = 4

Substituting x = 1:

-10(1) + y = 4

-10 + y = 4

Isolate y by adding 10 to both sides:

y = 4 + 10

y = 14

So, when x = 1, y = 14.

Finally, for x = 2:

-10x + y = 4

Substituting x = 2:

-10(2) + y = 4

-20 + y = 4

Isolate y by adding 20 to both sides:

y = 4 + 20

y = 24

So, when x = 2, y = 24.

The completed table looks like this:

x: -2 -1 0 1 2
y: -16 -6 4 14 24
