Asher has a total of 94 blue and yellow lollipops. 1/6 of the blue lollipops and half of the yellow lollipops are new. How many of his yellow lollipops are new if he has a total of 27 new lollipops?

number of blues ---- x

number of yellows = 94-x

new:
(1/6)x + (1/2)(94-x) = 27
multiply by 6
x + 3(94-x) = 162
x + 282 - 3x = 162
-2x = -120
x = 60

so he has 60 blues and 34 yellows

so new yellows = (1/2)(94-x) = (1/2)(34) = 17

check:
blues --- 60
yellows --- 34

which are new?
(1/6) of 60 or 10
+
(1/2) of 34 = 17 for a total of 27 new ones
My answer is correct
