When working with a sample that has a one analyte in a simple matrix, the calibration of choice is:

Standard of Weights and Measurements
Standard-addition
Internal Standard
External Standard

You haven't listed enough detail that I can feel comfortable in answering.

Are we talking microsamples? If we're talking about 10 grams I feel comfortable with a good balance but if I'm calibrating something in the nanogram region a good analytical balance won't cut it.
