I must confess that I have never used a micropipet similar to the one the question describes. When I used a micropipet many many years ago while doing research for my dissertation, (that was in the 1950s), I used (mostly) 50 uL and they were manually operated. No plungers. They were "to contain" units so we drew the sample in with a squeeze bulb and I blew on the top to expel the liquid inside. I don't think I should give advice on these modern dufangled gadgets.
