A researcher wants to determine if sleep quality improves after watching guided sleep meditation. The participants sleep quality is recorded at night one. On night two, participants listen to 30 minutes of guided sleep and their sleep quality is recorded again. Is this a dependent samples T test? What is the DV?

To determine if a dependent samples t-test is appropriate in this study, we need to assess whether the same participants are being measured under different conditions. In this case, the participants' sleep quality is measured on two different occasions: night one and night two. Since the same participants are being measured twice, this study does employ dependent samples.

The dependent variable (DV) in this study is the sleep quality. It is the variable that is being measured and compared across the two nights: night one and night two.
