Question - A bag of oranges weighs 5 1/4 pounds how much dose 1 1/2 bags wegh -
- So first i trurn them to imporoper fractions. 5 1/4 = 21/4. & 1 1/2 = 3/2 Then you make the denominators the same. . . when you mulitply you get -- 21/4 x 3/2 = 63/8. . . then you make that into a proper fraction--- i think the answer is 7 7/8.

Is I correct if not please tell me my mistake. Thank you! Merry christmaz Feliz Navidad

correct all the way.

thx

To solve the problem correctly, here is a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Convert the mixed numbers into improper fractions. You did this correctly.
5 1/4 = (4 * 5 + 1)/4 = 21/4
1 1/2 = (2 * 1 + 1)/2 = 3/2

Step 2: Find a common denominator for the fractions. In this case, the common denominator is 4.
21/4 x 2/2 = 42/8
3/2 x 4/4 = 12/8

Step 3: Perform the multiplication.
42/8 x 12/8 = (42 x 12)/(8 x 8) = 504/64

Step 4: Simplify the fraction.
504/64 can be simplified by dividing the numerator and the denominator by their greatest common divisor, which is 8.
504/8 = 63 and 64/8 = 8
So, the simplified fraction is 63/8.

Step 5: Convert the improper fraction back to a mixed number.
Divide the numerator 63 by the denominator 8:
63 รท 8 = 7 with a remainder of 7.

The final answer is 7 7/8.

In conclusion, your calculation is correct, and your answer of 7 7/8 is accurate. Well done! Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad to you too!
