someone else asked this quistion but there was no answere soooooo Niles and Bob sailed at the same time for the same length of time. Niles' sailboat traveled 14 miles at a speed of 7 mph, while Bob's motorboat traveled 22 miles at a speed of 11 mph. For how long were Niles and Bob traveling?

huh?

14miles / 7 miles/hr = 22/11 = 2 hr

thanks damon!! ^w^

If no one responds immediately, spend the time waiting to try and work out your own solution. Your study materials surely contain problems similar to the one that's bothering you.

To find the time for which Niles and Bob were traveling, we can use the formula:

Distance = Speed × Time

For Niles:
Distance = 14 miles
Speed = 7 mph
Time = ?

For Bob:
Distance = 22 miles
Speed = 11 mph
Time = ?

Let's first find the time for Niles. Rearranging the formula, we have:

Time = Distance / Speed

Time = 14 miles / 7 mph
Time = 2 hours

So Niles traveled for 2 hours.

Now, let's find the time for Bob. Using the same formula:

Time = 22 miles / 11 mph
Time = 2 hours

So, Bob also traveled for 2 hours.

Since Niles and Bob sailed for the same length of time, they were both traveling for 2 hours.
