Question: Laura has 1 more test left for the school year, which is 19% of her grade. What would her overall grade be if she got a 0% on it?

(What the gradebook image says⬇)
Test weight on overall grade: 85%
Quiz weight on Overall grade: 5%

Overall quiz score: 93%
Overall test score: 100%

submitted 41 quizzes
Submitted 5 tests
(Two that are 19% of her test grade
Three that are 15% of her test grade)
Overall score in class: 100%

(Told to write your own answer and im hoping someone could help me find how to figure it out because I am completely lost)

.93*.05 + (2*1.00*.19 + 3*1.00*.15 + 1*0*.19)*.85 + 1.00*.10 = 0.852

her grade with a zero on the last test will be 75.2%
If she gets a 100% on the last test, then her grade will rise to
.93*.05 + (2*1.00*.19 + 3*1.00*.15 + 1*1.00*.19)*.85 + 1.00*.10 = 1.0135 = 101.35%
curious, eh?

It doesn't really matter how many quizzes she submits. They all account for just 5% of her grade, and all we need is the overall quiz score.

But I am curious. Apparently there are 3 tests worth 19% each = 57%
and three more that are worth 15% = 45%
So how come the total does not equal 100% of her test grade?

And what does the overall score in class have to do with it? Is that the remaining 10% of her grade? I'll assume so.

To calculate Laura's overall grade if she gets a 0% on her remaining test, you need to consider the weights of different assignments in her overall grade calculation.

According to the information provided:

- Test weight on the overall grade: 85%
- Quiz weight on the overall grade: 5%

Overall quiz score: 93%
Overall test score: 100%

First, let's calculate the contribution of quizzes to her overall grade:
Quizzes contribute 5% to the overall grade, and her overall quiz score is 93%. So, the contribution of quizzes to her overall grade is 5% * 93% = 4.65%.

Next, let's calculate the contribution of the tests to her overall grade:
Tests contribute 85% to the overall grade, and her overall test score is 100%. Since Laura has already completed the tests except for the remaining one, we need to consider the weights of those completed tests.

Two tests are worth 19% of her grade, and three tests are worth 15% of her grade. So, the total weightage of the completed tests is 2 * 19% + 3 * 15% = 68%.

Now, let's calculate what percentage of the overall grade Laura has earned so far:
Laura has earned 4.65% from quizzes and 68% from tests. Thus, her current overall grade is 4.65% + 68% = 72.65%.

Since her remaining test is worth 19% of her grade, if she gets a 0% on it, it would contribute 0% * 19% = 0% to her overall grade.

So, her final overall grade would be her current grade of 72.65% since the remaining test has no impact.

Therefore, Laura's overall grade would be 72.65%.
