When an electric current is passed through water during the process of electrolysis, two gases are formed. One gas has a boiling point of negative 183 degrees celcius and the other has a boiling point of negative 253 degrees celcius. Has a physical or chemical change occurred? Explain.

Marius, you got an answer in about an hour. That's pretty good. I saw your question earlier but I was helping others. I answered your question as soon as I could. Please be patient. We get around as fast as we can.

You are right to a point. Yes, it is a chemical change because, as you say, it was water and now it is two gases which obviously is something different than water. The fact that the boiling points are different helps point that you started with one and ended up with anothr.

I know that it is chemical change but it says EXPLAIN!!!

so my answer is- It is chemical change because they are both different chemicals with different boiling points.

Am i right?

your************
