Consider the 6 inch × 9 inch rectangular cake that is 2 inches deep. If you cover the cake with frosting excluding the bottom, what is the surface area of the cake that will be covered with frosting?

help!!!! i dont understand

The top is 9 * 6 = 54 square inches

Two sides are 2 * 9 = 36 square inches

Two sides are 2 * 6 = 24 square inches.

Now add those areas together for the total amount of frosting.

Yes, 114 SQUARE INCHES

Who else cant wait to get out of this school 💀

so it would be 114 ?

You are very welcome.

Thanks so much, Ms. Sue! Most people don't like your help, but if they just read the stuff you post to help, they could probably learn how to do it themselves! Thanks again!

Okay thank you so much !

Thanks Mrs. Sue. I needed a recap.

people don't appreciate ms. sue enough

she's actually a quality teacher that's been saving people for over 30 years
so can we teach with ya ms. sue
@anonymous . . . .
@magic . . . . . . .
NOPE.

Thanks Ms. Sue

Hold on 9 times two doesn’t equal 36 though......

Ms. Sue or anyone else ?

what she meant is 2.9=18 then times 2 = 36 (same for the other one)

Guys, uhh.. Ms. Sue is dead. She died of cancer a few years ago.

@ E

What Mrs. Sue means by 2 * 9 = 36 is that there are two sides. So, you would have to add that to the equation, meaning 2 * 2 * 9.

@ I'm alright
You're not finding the volume in this problem. You are finding the surface area.

Thanks man

Why does everyone hate on Ms. Sue, she's literally the best

STILL HOW DO YOU GET 114 !!!

@Nobody that would be 36, its 9 * 2 + 6 * 2 + 6 * 9 :) which leads you to 114! I hope you know Im not being rude and just correcting you- sorry.

@Star wars rebels girl

(9 * 2) * 2 = 36
(6 * 2) * 24 = 24
9 * 6 = 54
then 54 + 24 + 36 = 114

Hope this helped! Sorry, I'm late!
:D

You have to add the Product you got from multiply the number so the three answers you got from multiplying is what you have the answer is ,the correct answers is 105
