January 20, 2009 is a date that will not soon be forgotten. On that day, former Senator Barack Hussein Obama was inaugurated the forty-forth president of our great country, the United States of America. His inauguration will forever hold a place in our nation’s history. On that day, America took a significant step forward and history was made. With our nation in the midst of an economic crisis, Obama is a promising leader and source of hope for the future.

Obama has campaigned on the promise of fixing the current financial crisis, which is the worst in a century. Our weak economy is a result of greed and irresponsibility. There have been bank failures and turmoil in the stock market in addition to rising foreclosures and a tough job market. Congress passed a $700 billion bailout plan in October, which he supported. I agree with him; I think it was necessary. As a middle-class citizen, I appreciate his support of tax cuts for the middle class, seniors, and the poor. President Obama plans to restore the economy by taxing the excessive profits of oil companies. This will provide American families with $1,000 tax rebate that will help them pay for the rising energy bills. In addition, Obama plans to give $25 billion to a fund that will prevent cuts in various forms of public assistance. He will give a further $25 billion to a fund intended to prevent expected cuts of more than a million jobs. My family will benefit from the $1,000 tax rebate. I think that trying to prevent job cuts is extremely important as well. I approve of this plan and think it will be successful.

Many issues demand President Obama’s attention, another of which is health care. This issue is one of the most critical, facing millions of Americans. With medical costs on the rise, basic healthcare is becoming unaffordable for average families. This is not only an economic concern, but also a moral concern. President Obama has promised to establish a new health insurance plan that is affordable. Creating a national health insurance program for those who don’t have employer-provided health care is a plan that I support. Obama intends to promote public health by paying for cancer screenings. He will also increase state and local preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters. I have no doubt that this will benefit everyone. He plans to double federal funding for cancer research. I think that cancer research is very important, so I hope that he follows through with that as well. On the issue of abortion, I agree with his pro-choice views. I personally think that abortion is wrong but that it should be allowed in some situations. In any case, I feel that it should not be made illegal or restricted by the government because women would only resort to performing abortions themselves or other drastic, unsafe methods. Abortion clinics should be kept open and legal as a safer option for those women.

These are just some of the numerous issues that President Barack Obama has to face. The world watched, as he emerged triumphant in the election. Now we can only hope that he will follow through on all of the promises he has made. The real work of getting a nation back on its feet has now begun. Obama brings a lot of hope to many Americans. We must trust him to bring us closer to achieving our goals and ambitions, and bring about a change for the better for our country. I hope that he will follow through with everything he has committed himself to, so that “we will change this country for our children and our grandchildren.” I think it is all about changing our world, or at least our country, for the better so that we will have a more promising future.

Good job, but you need some work on commas and organizing your topic coverage.

In the play “The Crucible”, written by Arthur Miller, a Puritan town of Salem, Massachusetts. Which took part of history called The Salem Witch Trials. One of the main characters of the play was John Proctor. His occupation in the Salem community was a farmer. Through out the play I believed that he was a very strong man, and very outspoken. He was a guilty man of adultery. He had affair with young girl named Abigail Williams. This is one of the major conflicts that lead many others throughout the play.

In the beginning of the play John Proctor had a secret that was about the affair with Abigail Williams. He didn’t want anyone to know about his affair. He believes comforting this to the community of Salem would ruin his reputation. So he kept quiet until the trials began to get out of hand. He confronted it in front of the trial but he didn’t make much of a difference that Abigail was lying. This public announcement to the community made the second conflict come to play. This was John being arrested and also being accused of witchcraft.
John had an opportunity to confess to being a witch and in exchanged for the gift of life. John was a man that cared about his reputation very much, and confessing that he was a witch would put shame upon him and his family. He believes confessing is something he is going to have to risk. So he decide to confess that he was a witch until the judges made him write a document and sign stating he was apart of witchcraft. He could not bare the fact he was going to be signing a document of lies and so he ripped the paper up.
This leaded us to the end of the play where he was going to be hanged for not confessing of being a witch. John being innocent and not confessing to lies made him become killed for something he did not do. This shows that John Proctor was a brave man by dying for the wrong charge.
In conclusion, John Proctor was a very outspoken, strong and guilty. He was innocent and accused for the wrong reason, which lead to his death. He cared very much about is reputation and secrets not being spread around the community of Salem. However this is the main reason why he is up in heaven. This is why John Proctor is major character in the play. Without this character Arthur Miller would not have that many conflicts and a tragic hero.
