Hi

I need help with this. I have the thesis statement but I can't really think of a good hook and bridge for this. This is the thesis statement: In the novel, Of Mice & Men, the author addresses the human rights issue of health and this problem is an issue in the US and in Canada. Can someone give me some good suggestions? Thanks in Advance!

First, you need to revise that thesis statement so it's smoother. It reads as if you took two related ideas and jammed them together with "and."

Study this, and let us know how you smoothe out that thesis:

Hi Writeacher,

Thank you for the feedback. I used the website as an example and took more time to develop it. I was rushed before because the end of the 1st semester but my teacher gave me more time. This is my revised thesis statement:
In the novel “Of Mice & Men,” the author addresses the human rights issue of the right for health for the mentally ill by presenting the protagonist’s mental health struggles allowing the reader to have bittersweet feelings following the protagonist’s decline while also shedding a light on how this issue is addressed in the US and Canada. How is it now? Thanks Again!

Hi I need a hook on immigration please !!

Of course! I'd be happy to help you come up with a hook and bridge for your thesis statement.

First, let's understand the purpose of a hook and bridge. The hook is meant to grab the reader's attention and make them interested in reading further. It can be a catchy phrase, a thought-provoking question, or an intriguing fact. The bridge, on the other hand, connects the hook to your thesis statement and provides some transition or context for your reader.

Now, let's brainstorm some ideas for your hook and bridge:

1. Hook: "Imagine a world where access to healthcare is a luxury rather than a basic human right..."
Bridge: "In John Steinbeck's powerful novel, Of Mice & Men, this daunting reality parallels the health inequalities faced by individuals in both the United States and Canada."

2. Hook: "Did you know that millions of individuals struggle to afford essential medical care in modern societies?"
Bridge: "Through his novel, Of Mice & Men, John Steinbeck sheds light on the pressing issue of healthcare accessibility, highlighting how this pervasive problem affects individuals on both sides of the border – in the US and Canada."

3. Hook: "As the characters in Of Mice & Men grapple with poverty and desperation, they find themselves facing a more insidious threat – the denial of their right to health."
Bridge: "John Steinbeck's masterpiece brings to the forefront the dire human rights issue of healthcare access, painting a tragic picture of society's failure to address this problem in both the US and Canada."

Remember, the hook and bridge should be concise and engaging, yet provide a smooth transition into your thesis statement. You can modify these suggestions as per your writing style and preferences.
